Preparing the Grounds: The Annual Scalping at ORI
Each fall at Outdoor Resort Indio, the grounds crew performs the annual scalping and reseeding that transforms the resort for the season ahead. After turning off the summer watering, the grass quickly browns, and crews cut it down short—removing an astonishing amount of clippings from the lawns and golf course with speed and precision. Smaller areas like the pickleball courts and gatehouse are reseeded first, and by the end of the week fresh water begins coaxing new grass to life. What may look like scorched earth in September soon becomes a lush green carpet, welcoming Class A motorcoach owners back to a beautifully refreshed resort.
