Lifelong Friendships Beyond the Gates of ORI

At Outdoor Resort Indio, luxury RV living means more than palm trees, pickleball, and golf—it’s about connection. For many owners, the friendships made during season go well beyond the resort gates. When the temperatures rise and the Class A motorcoaches begin their summer migrations, the sense of community doesn’t fade. It simply goes mobile.

As longtime ORI owner Greg Cotton says, “When the motorcoaches leave Outdoor Resort Indio’s entrance on Avenue 48, the party does not end. It just goes on the road.” From lakeside cookouts to spontaneous happy hours at distant RV parks, ORI owners find each other across the map. Some meetings are planned—like golf tournaments or group outings on the water. Others happen by chance. “On walks through the RV resorts, we often are surprised to recognize a coach or face that we know,” Greg adds. “Parties planned and unplanned happen all the time.”

Greg’s own travel list this year spans from Oregon to Missouri, Iowa to British Columbia—and in each place, he’s reconnected with fellow ORI owners. It’s not uncommon, he says, to meet up with 50 or more friends while away from the resort.

Jim Zaik, who bought his lot at ORI after spending years traveling full-time, shares a similar story. “As beautiful as ORI is inside the gates,” he writes, “the extra-special bonus is that the fun and friendships don’t end when summer rolls around.” From Alaska to Michigan to the Pacific Northwest, Jim and his wife Lynn have been greeted with open arms by fellow ORI friends at every stop—often by surprise.

Whether it’s brunch by the water in Washington, dinner in Michigan, or running into familiar faces while walking a scenic bridge in Redding, the relationships formed at ORI continue to thrive long after the season ends.

For new owners, renters, or those just discovering ORI, this is what truly sets the resort apart: the community travels with you. So wherever the road leads this summer, keep an eye out—you never know when you’ll bump into an ORI friend. Because at Outdoor Resort Indio, the party never really ends. It just changes scenery.
