Outdoor Resort Indio – At the center of endless excitement

If you are renting at ORI, then welcome! Renting gives you an opportunity to discover the resort’s best features…vibrant and friendly neighbors, and an abundance of exciting activities. It’s also a good time to discover that it’s important to consider not only the park but also the surrounding community. The nearby area can significantly enhance your overall experience, offering opportunities for exploration, entertainment, and convenience. And at Outdoor Resort Indio, we have an endless list of opportunities.

When evaluating ORI’s surrounding community, imagine three concentric circles around the resort, representing the drive-time of 20 minutes, 1 hour, and 4 hours.

Circle 1: Within 20 Minutes

This circle encompasses your daily needs. ORI is blessed with an abundance of options in every category:

• Essential Services: Groceries, pharmacies, and gas stations.

• Shopping:  The El Paseo Shopping district with over 300 shops, historic Old Town La Quinta and many more small and large shops within Indio and La Quinta.

• Local Flavors: Restaurants: Taco Gonzales, Enzos, Louis’s Pantry, Chula’s, Torakichi Ramen and Cali Rosina just to name a few. Farmers markets: Sunday at historic Old Town La Quinta and Thursdays on Washington St.

• Personal Care: Salons, barbershops, and pet supplies.

Circle 2: Within an Hour

This circle offers opportunities for exploration and entertainment:

• Outdoor Activities: 26 hiking trail locations, polo and tennis facilities abound, and almost 125 golf courses in the Coachella valley, just as a beginning.

• Cultural Attractions: McCallum Theater, The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, and music venues like the Acrisure Arena attracting big name bands. Not to mention 2 art museums in Palm Springs and the amazing Palm Springs Air Museum.

• Shopping and Dining: Unique shops and upscale restaurants. Palm Springs and the Desert Cities. The Cabazon Outlets and all Palm Springs has to offer. And dining? There are 784 restaurants with an hour’s drive. 247 in Palm Springs alone.

• Casinos:  Aqua Caliente, Fantasy Springs, Augustine and Morongo all within an hours drive.

• Transportation: The Palm Springs airport, small enough to be easy through TSA, yet big enough to catch a flight to anywhere you want to go. And of course, plenty of RV repair services within range.

Circle 3: Within Four Hours

This circle presents weekend getaway options:

• Theme Parks: Disney, Universal Studios, Lego Land, Six Flags, The San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld.

• Los Angeles and Las Vegas: Both within a four hour drive. Need I say more.

• Scenic Escapes: From Santa Barbara to San Diego, the amazing California coastline. Big Bear Lake and Lake Arrowhead. Not to mention the beautiful Coachella valley and all its desert wonders.

Extra tips for deciding if ORI is your perfect resort

• Consider the setting: Do you prefer mountains and forests, the dry desert, being close to the ocean, lakes or rivers or a vibrant city atmosphere? The mountains and desert surrounding ORI are unique and beautiful, and you are a weekends trip away from the mountains and coastline.

• The Climate: From October to April the temperature ranges from 100 to 65 with the prime season of January through March usually hovering between 70 to 85 degrees. And, of course, the desert air. Low humidity and occasionally breezy.

• Connect with Other RVers: Ask for recommendations and insights from your neighbors at ORI. You will hear fun stories, get great advice and most likely, make new friends.

Outdoor Resort Indio is an amazing community with a lot to offer. The Desert Cities, that ORI is nestled in, are the icing on the cake with most everything an adventurous soul could want. But, I admit, I am biased. After 10 years of visiting ORI, my wife and I couldn’t resist when the opportunity arose to make ORI a part of our daily life. Hopefully my three-circle method will help you consider one more important aspect of RV resort living. So, welcome. Or, should I say, welcome home.
