Taco Gonzalez

The buzz among Indio, California luxury resort lot owners about Taco Gonzalez started years ago, and I finally had to give them a try. I found their food to be authentic and absolutely delicious. Back when I worked with Marathon Coach (www.marathoncoach.com), I often used them for catering, so you may have already sampled Taco Gonzalez without even realizing it. Over the years, they’ve remained consistent with excellent service and outstanding taste. If you’re a new lot owner at Outdoor Resort Indio and attended the New Lot Owner event in November, you likely enjoyed their guacamole, salsa, and chips.

Taco Gonzalez is just a quick 4-minute drive from Outdoor Resort Indio. They’re located near Home Depot, at the corner of Highway 111 and Jefferson. Lunchtime can get very busy, and they don’t take reservations, so plan to arrive early or place an order to go.

Recently, Linda and I stopped by with some family members, and the Gonzalez family provided an incredible feast. Every meal begins with fresh chips and salsa, and we always add guacamole—it’s a must! Their tacos are authentic and simple, like traditional street tacos, with al pastor, corn tortillas, onions, and cilantro. This simplicity places all the emphasis on the flavor of the protein, and they never disappoint.

My daughter loves their tortas, filled with beans, cheese, guacamole, lettuce, and tomato—a big sandwich, for sure. She always takes some home for later. Linda is a fan of their chicken tostada, while my brother enjoyed their Gonzalez Burrito California, packed with carne asada, fries, cheese, and sour cream. Both are generous portions. We also shared a Super Nacho plate, which was fantastic and could easily serve as a meal on its own.

If you’re a dessert lover, don’t miss their coconut treats, which you’ll find in the display at the counter. Mrs. Gonzalez makes them herself, and they’re simply fantastic!

The Gonzalez family are wonderful hosts who will treat you like family. Expect authentic food, warm smiles, and a full tummy. You might just spot us at our favorite table, trying something new.
